Sound and Thermal Insulation
Heating and cooling are only as good as the insulation and on this van we went all out. We started with Lizard Skin Sound Deadener on all surfaces, then applied Lizard Skin Ceramic Thermal Insulation. These two steps provide amazing sound and temperature isolation and protect the van skin from condensation at the same time. Next we added Thinsulite batting to all cavities (including behind the cab headliner) and sandwiched a layer of closed-cell foam on the floor to maximize insulation without sacrificing headroom.
Air Heaters
It doesn’t get better than an Espar heater in the winter. Quiet and super-efficient, the D2 can run all night on little sips of diesel from the main tank. Because it has a closed combustion chamber that draws fresh air and vents exhaust outside the van it is safe to use while sleeping. The integrated altitude sensor will adjust the fuel flow for the right combustion for whatever altitude you are at.
All exterior lines are protected with two layers of high quality thermal and abrasion sheathing. A second OEM Espar heater acts as a heater booster to quickly warm up the cabin when the van has been sitting in a cold climate. |
Venting and Fans
We found the quietest fans and installed two in the roof. Each fan has 10 speeds and can direct air either in or out. They each have a retractable rain guard that lets you use them even when it is pouring rain and retract when driving.
Insulated Window Covers
The van is being sold with a full set of custom insulated and reflective window covers.
Attention to Detail
Cabinet and other attachments to the van frame are Insulated for minimal thermal transfer. If you’re a van conversion nerd, like we are, you’ll know why this is important. :)
